Welcome to the Friends of Tannery Drift School!            Registered Charity: 291369

Friends of Tannery Drift School (FTDS) are every parent, carer and member of staff who helps to fund raise for our school – whether you are part of our committee/membership and organise events, make donations, or help out at an event.

FTDS raise money throughout the academic year to fund projects, equipment or facilities which would not otherwise be funded, to enhance school life for the children of Tannery Drift First School.

There have been new challenges this year for FTDS, however we continue to explore enjoyable ways to bring together and support our wider school community, through fundraising and cost neutral events/activities, while being mindful of the financial pressures families are experiencing and adhering to the changing guidance associated with COVID 19.

In 2021/22 FTDS have funded or agreed to fund;
New courtyard shed, Whole school online panto (with a bag of popcorn each). Gift of a book for every child - Story Time with Santa.  Diversity books. Class WOW days. KS2 wellbeing club resources. Whole school Kapla experience. Year Group discos (with a bag of crisps). Leavers' party donation.

Proposed constitution change
At the AGM on Wednesday 28th September we will vote to adopt the constitution we have been using since 2010 including a proposed change to the section of our draft constitution concerning our annual audit. The change has been discussed and put forward by the trustees as our current need for an independent auditor is not in-line with the Charities Commission's guidance and creates a lot of additional work.
Current wording:
5.8.4. Appoint an independent examiner or auditor for the Association.
Proposed change to bring us in line with the Charities Commissions guidance:
5.8.4. Annually, an internal independent audit is to be completed at the end of the summer term. The auditor must be reasonably believed by the trustees to have the requisite ability and practical experience to carry out a competent examination of the accounts and can be a trustee (excluding Treasurer/Vice Treasurer).
In the event of gross income of £25,000 or above an external audit by an independent examiner is required.
Please email FTDS if you would like further information about this proposed change.
